GUWAHATI, July 20: A five-day Summer Workshop organised by the Assam Cultural Trust in collaboration with Pragjyoti Sanskritik Samaj concluded on Saturday at the Pragjyoti Cultural Complex in Machkhowa.
According to an official statement, the workshop, held from July 16 to 20, witnessed enthusiastic participation from 147 students aged between 4 and 18 years.
The workshop featured sessions on Art and Craft, Traditional Song (Vocal), and Yoga and Meditation, providing students an opportunity to explore their creativity and connect with Assamese cultural traditions.
The inaugural ceremony on July 16 was graced by noted folk artist Jina Rajkumari as chief guest. Md Khalid Umar, Chairman of the Socio-Cultural Committee of the Assam Cultural Trust, formally inaugurated the workshop.
The concluding ceremony, held on July 20, featured Rahul Chandra Das, Director of Cultural Affairs, Assam, and Secretary of the Assam Cultural Trust, as chief guest.
He was felicitated along with Bolin Bordoloi, advisor of the Socio-Cultural Committee of the Trust, for their contributions to the state’s cultural promotion.
Das delivered a motivational address to the participants, encouraging them to remain rooted in their heritage while fostering creativity and learning.
He distributed certificates of participation to the students and praised their energy and talent.
The closing event also saw speeches by Md Khalid Umar, who applauded the children and thanked the organisers, and Bolin Bordoloi, who emphasised the importance of cultural integrity.
Balendra Kumar Das, Vice Chairman of the Socio-Cultural Committee, stressed the role of cultural unity and assimilation in fostering community harmony.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Arup Goswami, General Secretary of Pragjyoti Sanskritik Samaj.
