JORHAT, May 19: A young college student who attempted to get up on the stage to meet chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma while he was launching the Centre’s PMAY-G scheme at the Jorhat Court Field on Thursday was in tears when she was allowed to meet the CM and express her grievances later.

The student identified as Meenakshi Bora said that her family was in grave misery following a grievous injury sustained by her father in the 2008 serial bomb blast case in Guwahati.

She told the CM that they had received a one-time payment of Rs 50,000 given by the government for injured patients but her father had died five years later.

Following this, the CM called her mother who was standing nearby and assured the two that he would look into the matter and see if he could give some aid. He also accepted their petition for help and said that he was accessible to all.
