KOKRAJHAR, Aug 12: Education and Tribal Affairs Minister Ranoj Pegu recently announced that the State Government has assured the creation of new posts in 40 Bodo medium higher secondary schools upgraded from high schools and 72 LP schools upgraded from erstwhile Education Guarantee Scheme (EGS) centres.
He also confirmed that a campus of Bodoland University will soon be operational at Udalguri.

In a social media post, Pegu said he had an in-depth discussion with the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) on challenges faced by Bodo medium schools and broader education-related issues in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
The meeting also reviewed the provincialisation of schools in BTR and Bodo medium schools in non-BTR areas under Clause 6.3 of the Bodo Peace Accord.
The high-level meeting, held at Janata Bhawan in Dispur, discussed a range of education matters including provincialisation of schools as per the Bodo Accord; creation of posts in PGT and upgraded EGS schools; establishment of new Bodo medium model high schools with World Bank support; launch of Bodoland University’s Udalguri campus from the current academic session; demand to upgrade Udalguri College into Udalguri University; rationalisation of Bodo medium schools outside the Sixth Schedule areas; regularisation of tutor teachers; special TET for Bodo medium outside BTR; creation of Bodo department posts in Baksa and Balipara model degree colleges; and transfer policy for teachers from Bodo medium to non-Bodo medium backgrounds.
The ABSU delegation was led by president Dipen Boro, along with vice president Umesh Daimary, assistant general secretary Dinesh Brahma, education secretary Swmaosar Basumatary, assistant education secretary Biswajit Narzary, and PRS Swmdwn Brahma, among others.
