GUWAHATI, Sept 7: Lat mandal Hari Das Singha of the Patharighat Revenue Circle, Darrang was caught red handed by the Vigilance officials while accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 on Wednesday.
A complaint was received at the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam regarding the lat mandal who demanded a sum of Rs. 20,000 for mutation of land measuring half bigha in the name of the complainant. Later though the bribe money was reduced to Rs. 18,000 which was further reduced to Rs. 17,000.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam for taking necessary legal action against the public servant.
The tainted bribe money was recovered from the possession of the lat mandal in the presence of the independent witnesses.
A case has been registered in ACB PS on 07/09/2022 vide ACB P. S Case No. 36/2022 u/s 7(a)of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) against Hari Das Singha, lat mandal of Office of the Circle Officer, Patharighat Revenue Circle, Darrang.
Necessary legal follow up actions are being taken.
