GUWAHATI, Aug 4: A team of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption, Assam on Thursday trapped another corrupt Lat Mandal, identified as Hari Prasad Das for taking bribes from eastern Assam’s Charaideo district. According to the Directorate, Lat Mandal Das works at the office of the Sapekhati Revenue Circle of the district.

The Directorate revealed that in a written complaint Lat Mandal Das was alleged of demanding a sum of Rs 10,000 as bribe from the complainant for mutation of a plot of land measuring 1 Katha 3 Lecha, located at Borhat Misajan village under Sapekhati Revenue Circle.

“Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the Directorate. Accordingly, a trap was laid on Thursday at the district’s Borhat Misajan village by a team from the Directorate. As was planned, Lat Mandal Das came to the village to collect the bribe amount from the complainant. Immediately, he was caught red handed,” the Directorate said.

Notably, the corrupt Lat Mandal was found receiving Rs 5,000 as advance from the complainant. The tainted bribe money was recovered from Das’s possession in the presence of independent witnesses and was seized by the team.
