Guwahati, 20 Oct: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended their greetings to the people of the state on Monday, marking the celebrations of Kali Puja and Diwali. Both leaders emphasised the importance of celebrating the festivals with joy, communal harmony, and environmental responsibility.
Governor Acharya highlighted the spiritual significance of Kali Puja, describing it as a festival that inspires the awakening of inner strength to overcome fear and darkness. Speaking about Diwali, he noted that the festival symbolises the triumph of truth and hope, reminding citizens that the light of wisdom resides within everyone.
The governor also called for eco-friendly festivities, urging people to reduce noise and air pollution, conserve natural resources, and adopt sustainable practices. “A truly joyful Diwali is one that brings light not just to our homes, but also to the world around us. Let us celebrate in ways that honour both tradition and our responsibility to future generations,” he said.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared his greetings on social media, encouraging residents to celebrate with happiness, harmony, and care for the environment. He wished that homes lit with diyas and hearts filled with joy would bring warmth, togetherness, and peace to all, adding, “Have a safe and sparkling Diwali!”
