Assam: Local holiday declared on March 26 in Kamrup (M) on account of Dol Jatra

Guwahati, March 21: All state government offices and educational institutions in Kamrup (metropolitan) will remain closed on March 26 due to Dol Jatra and Holi, as confirmed by an official notification issued on Thursday.

The notification, dated March 21, from the Department of General Administration of the Assam Government, announced that March 26 will be observed as a local holiday in the Kamrup (metropolitan) district.

The Governor of Assam has declared a local holiday on March 26, 2024, within the Kamrup (Metro) district owing to Dol Jatra (Holi) festival. The notification also stated that all financial institutions within the district’s jurisdiction will remain closed on this day.

Dola Purnima, also known as Dolo Jatra, Doul Utsav, or Deul, is a Hindu festival celebrated in various regions of India, including Braj, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odisha, Assam, Tripura, and Bengal, during the Holi festival, dedicated to the revered couple, Radha and Krishna.
