TEZPUR, Aug 16: Sensation has prevailed in Doyalpur area near Rangapara town under Rangapara Police Station in Sonitpur district after one Tuniram Madri of the area beheaded a 55-year-old man of the same area on Monday.

According to a source of the Rangapara police, a quarrel took place between Tuniram Madri and Broilor Hemram of the same area for Rs 500 and as a result of deep outrage Tuniram beheaded Broilor Hemram with a sharp ‘dao’.

Later, the accused arrived with the head of the deceased at the Rangapara police station to surrender. Police subsequently arrested him.

The source said, “The incident occurred on Monday in the Doyalur village after the football match organised on the occasion of Independence Day was over. Tuniram Madri was supporting one of the two teams, while Broilor Hemram was a fan of the other. They promised that one has to give Rs 500 to the other if his team loses. Hemram won the bet and asked for the money but Madri did not honour the promise and instead asked him to go for dinner.”
