DIPHU, April 20: The Autonomous State Demand Committee Youth Front (ASDC-Youth Front) has alleged that the State Governments of Assam and Meghalaya have adopted ‘give and take policy’ on solving the decades-old border problem between the two states.

In a press conference held here at ASDC central committee office on Wednesday, ASDC Youth Front president Premson Bey said. “The ‘Give-and-take’ policy adopted by the Governments of Meghalaya and Assam in land agreement between the states involving any part of West Karbi Anglong is unacceptable. However, the deal excluding any part of Karbi hills we have nothing to say.”

He also said the ASDC Youth Front wants the earlier 17 November, 1951 boundary demarcation when Karbi Anglong was created which is the constitutional boundary.

The ASDC Youth Front leaders further stated that as BJP is in power at the Centre and the state and with a power-sharing Government in Meghalaya the BJP machinery is influencing the course of events at the cost of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.

Bey also said the ASDC Youth Front has done an independent case study this month on the border issue by meeting the border residents in places like Khanduli, Ulukunchi, Pampura, Umjakini and Sabuda and learnt that the people in border areas are living peacefully.
