Kamrup, April 24: Nine individuals were arrested in Assam’s Kamrup metropolitan district for the procurement, production, and sale of illegal liquor, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.
This crackdown is part of efforts to enforce the Model Code of Conduct in light of the upcoming second phase of Lok Sabha elections. Excise and police department officials have intensified surveillance activities.
Over the past week, raids across multiple locations in Kamrup metro district resulted in the seizure of 1,598 litres of country liquor, 15,460 kilograms of fermented wash, and approximately 69 litres of foreign liquor.
Additionally, 28 types of raw materials used for producing local liquor were destroyed during these raids.
