Passengers on the train reported that a group of young people first noticed the crying infant in one of the train’s coaches. Worried about the baby’s safety, they quickly informed the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

A female passenger narrated her experience of holding the deserted baby, highlighting troubling signs about her health. She noticed that one of the baby’s legs was slightly twisted and there were scratch marks on her face.

Another passenger, who arrived at Lumding station to board the same train, came across a crowd and was informed about the distressing discovery. He expressed shock at the heartless act of abandonment.

He said he was worried about the baby and questioned the cruelty of parents who could abandon their child in such conditions. The baby was left alone in the humid environment inside the train coach. Witnesses reported that kind-hearted people came forward to help the baby, with one woman taking custody of her before handing her over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Lumding station. The abandonment of the newborn has ignited anger and led to discussions about the safety of vulnerable children.
