Nagaon, March 24: A wild elephant caused severe destruction in Kachuwa village in Nagaon, injuring one forest personnel.
The victim, Siraj Ali, was present during the attack and was taken aback by the elephant’s unexpected aggression. The injuries inflicted on him were serious, particularly to his waist, requiring immediate medical attention at Nagaon Civil Hospital.
In a separate incident, Putu Gowala of Tarani village in the Phillobari locality of Tinsukia District, lost his life to an elephant attack while returning home from a market.
The incidents have alarmed the region, pushing authorities to emphasise the importance of protecting areas prone to elephant intrusions.
These events underscore the urgent need for conservation measures in elephant habitats to reduce human-elephant conflicts and establish safe zones for both humans and wildlife to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.
