She came to support Manoj Dhanowar, the candidate for the 13th Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency.

Accompanying her were Aam Aadmi Party state president Dr Bhaben Choudhary, AAP North East in-charge Rajesh Sharma, and members of the AAP Margherita committee, Yuva Shakti Tinsukia district committee, Mahila Shakti.

Over 2000 AAP members and workers were also present while Atishi Marlena was welcomed with a grand motorcycle rally from Margherita Makum Pather to Margherita Central Field.

In her speech, she criticised the BJP-led Union and state governments for their failure to fulfill the promises they made to the people of Assam.

The Aam Aadmi Party strongly opposes the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and this is an important issue for it in the Lok Sabha polls in Assam, senior party leader Atishi Marlena said here on Tuesday.

Atishi Marlena said that before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Narendra Modi assured that within 6 months ethnic communities of Assam such as Tai Ahom, Adivasi, Moran, Mottock, Chutiya, and Koch Rajbonshi would be granted ST status. Unfortunately, during the 10 years of the BJP government at the Union, they have failed to deliver on this assurance. Similarly, tea garden workers were promised Rs 350 daily wages, but unfortunately, they are only getting Rs 250, which is the lowest wage compared to all the states in our country.

In the last years of the BJP-led government at the Union, people are suffering from price inflation of essential commodities, unemployment problems, international border issues, and ethnic violence. In this Lok Sabha election, all should vote for INDIA Bloc candidates all over our country, and only then change will be seen. Otherwise, in the coming days, everyone will have to suffer a lot, as Narendra Modi will change our Indian Constitution, leading to the countdown for our country’s destruction, said Atishi Marlena.

Speaking to reporters, Atishi Marlena questioned why, when the government was unable to provide jobs and houses to its own people, controversial Draconian Law like the Citizenship (Amendment) Act is being brought in to create problems by bringing people from other countries?

“This will be a major issue that we are going to raise during our campaign for the two Lok Sabha seats in Assam,” she said.

Atishi Marlena, who is the Education minister of Delhi, is in Assam on a three-day visit to campaign for the party’s Dibrugarh candidate Manoj Dhanowar and Sonitpur candidate Rishiraj Kaundinya.
