DIPHU, Nov 20: Students of Assam University Diphu Campus (AUDC) have staged a protest against the campus administration, citing incompetence and neglect by the AUDC authority.
The protest, led by the Assam University Diphu Campus Students Union (AUDCSU), demanded the filling of all seats for the 2024-2025 academic session across all departments; immediate recruitment to fill up faculty vacancies; an increase in the number of buses for students; and to expedite the construction of a campus playground and immediate functioning of the boy’s hostel.
The student union has carried out the protest to highlight these long-pending issues, seeking prompt action from the AUDC administration.
Addressing the media, AUDCSU president Cherok Basa Ingti stated, “We were compelled to stage a sit-in demonstration at our university gate today due to the administration’s incompetence. The university lacks various essential facilities.”
Ingti highlighted the students’ union demands, including filling seats for the 2024-25 academic session, increasing university buses to alleviate transportation difficulties, and the construction of a playground. He also demanded the immediate opening of the boy’s hostel, which was completed in 2020-2021, and filling vacant faculty positions.
“These long-pending issues require immediate attention,” Ingti emphasised.
