District Legal Services Authority Tinsukia on sunday organised “witch hunting enacted law” awareness programme at Bogapani Tea Estate under Tinsukia district where more than 500 local people were present.
Digboi Police Station assistant Sub Inspector Priyodhor Handique Advocate and District legal Service Authority Tinsukia representative Papu Shah were present as keynote speaker.
In his speech Papu Sah said that witch hunting, drugs abuse and child marriage are major issues of Bogapani Tea Estate where few years ago an elderly woman on superstitious belief of witch was assaulted by local residents which later police investigated the case.
Priyodhor Handique assistant sub inspector of Digboi police station said that social evils can be eradicate from our society only through education if a person is educated a society, state and country can be developed otherwise life shall be like early man.
Suresh Tanti local youth of Bogapani Tea Estate said that at this area many incident occurred due to as many youths are addicted of alcohol and for this witch hunting and child marriage have become a headache at Bogapani Tea Estate and through awareness programme social evils can be eradicated from our area.
District Legal Service Authority Tinsukia assured that they shall provide all kind of legal aid and request residents of Bogapani Tea Estate to be sincere,punctual and alert so that social evils can never enter at their surroundings said Papu Sah.
