KOKRAJHAR,Feb 20: The District Commissioner of Baksa, Gautam Das on Thursday flagged off two buses carrying 64 participants from Baksa district to participate in the Historic Grand Jhumur Dance Showcase to be held in Guwahati.
The dancers, hailing from Doomni Tea Estate (Baksa) and Fatimabad Tea Estate (Manas LAC), will take part in the grand Jhumur dance performance, which is set to make history on February 24.
Assam is gearing up for a historic cultural event, “Jhumoir Binandini,” which will see over 9,000 performers from 27 districts showcasing the rich tea garden culture of the state.
The grand event, celebrating 200 years of Assam Tea, will take place at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati, in the august presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Gautam Das expressed pride in the participants, stating, “This is a proud moment for Baksa district. Our talented dancers will be part of a historic performance that showcases Assam’s vibrant traditions. I wish them the very best as they represent our district on this grand platform.”
The participants have undergone rigorous rehearsals to perfect their moves ahead of the event.
Nodal Officer and ADC Jeetu Kr Barman has been closely overseeing the arrangements, ensuring the dancers receive the necessary support and guidance.
