Minister Ashok Singhal takes stock of preparation of Jhumoir Binandini 2025

TEZPUR, Feb 5: The minister of health & family welfare and irrigation Ashok Singhal, was present during the first Zonal Level performance of Jhumoir Binandini (Mega Jhumoir) 2025, held on Tuesday at Church Field, Tezpur.

This zonal-level rehearsal and performance witnessed enthusiastic participation from 512 performers from Sonitpur, 224 from Biswanath, and 225 from Nagaon, along with musicians, master trainers, and members of the Expert Committee from each of the three participating districts.

Addressing the performers and the audience, minister Singhal emphasised that the Jhumoir Binandini performance, scheduled for February 24 at Sarusajai, Guwahati in the esteemed presence of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, is not just a celebration of the traditional dance of the tea tribe and Adivasi community but also a grand showcase of its rich cultural heritage, indomitable spirit, and deep-rooted traditions.

During the event, minister Singhal felicitated central choreographers of Jhumoir Binandini (Mega Jhumoir) 2025 Ranjit Gogoi, Sajan Nayak and Mangal Nayak, for their invaluable contributions.

In his welcome address, the district commissioner of Sonitpur, Ankur Bharali, congratulated all participants and expressed confidence that they were preparing to be part of a historic event.

Additional chief secretary to the government of Assam, Labour welfare department B Kalyan Chakravarty, commended the dedication and enthusiasm of the performers and extended his best wishes for their grand performance on February 24.

The event was attended by MLA of Tezpur Prithiraj Rava, MLA of Biswanath Promod Borthakur, and MLA of Behali Diganta Ghatowal, along with CEO of Sonitpur Zilla Parishad, Karabi Saikia Karan, other distinguished dignitaries, leading citizens, and members of the local community.
