DIPHU, April 8: A strong Congress leader and president of West Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (WKADCC), Sarthe Kramsa formally joined the saffron party in Guwahati. He was received by president of state BJP Bhabesh Kalita and general secretary Phanindranath Sarma. Deputy speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Dr Numal Momin and MLA of Howraghat Darsing Ronghang and MLA of Baithalangso, Rupsing Teron were also present. The joining of Kramsa in the BJP is a big jolt for the Congress in West Karbi Anglong.

When contacted about his reason for leaving the Congress and joining the BJP Kramsa said, “The leaders of Primary Congress Committee (PCCs) do not listen to me. All activities in the Congress party are done under the dictate of former HAD minister, Kharsing Engti. In order to interfere in the party affairs, Engti has become the chairman of Hills District Congress Coordination Committee.”

Ticket selection is done by him. In 15 years Engti has done nothing for the party. What the Congress cannot do in 15 years, the BJP government has done in 2 to 3 years. There is no future in Congress and no opportunity to grow for youth leaders in Congress, Kramsa said.
