The programme was attended by chief executive member of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa along with other executive members Nipolal Hojai, Paodaming Riame, Ramgalungbe Jeme. Deputy commissioner Nazreen Ahmed, ACS also attended the programme. Officers and staff of APDCL and NEEPCO also participated in the celebration programme. Speaking as chief guest at the programme, CEM Debolal Gorlosa congratulated the department for organising such an important programme. He spoke about the importance of power in day-to-day life and inconveniences during its absence. He further reiterates that in many of the rural areas of Dima Hasao, although the areas are connected with power, they are not receiving the required supply. Citing an example about his own constituency Dihangi, which is not far from the district headquarters, CEM informed the department representatives that people of the area only enjoy the power supply with regular intervals which causes a lot of inconveniences especially at the medical facilitation centers. Strictly informing the concerned officers, he also said that while providing power connectivity, installation of electric poles on the roadways should be done assiduously with officials of the department’s knowledge. On the other hand, he also appealed to the people to make judicious use of the power made available to them as part of the energy conservation process. Speaking on the occasion, DC Nazreen Ahmed said that although most of the places are now electrified in the entire nation, few of the rural areas are users of solar energy. Stating the intention of the government regarding expansion of the power sector, she is positive that people of Dima Hasao will reap the benefits of the solar power for the convenience of those in interior areas. Among others present were the officials of APDCL, NEEPCO, villagers, gaonbura of Lodi, public and media persons.
