JORHAT, Nov 11: Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar awardee (2021) Binoy Kumar Saikia has been conferred the Chirantan Rasayan Sanstha Silver Star Medal for his outstanding achievements in research and innovation. Saikia, an eminent scientist and academician currently at the North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST), Jorhat received the honour from the Chirantan Rasayan Sanstha, established in 2016 to promote research and development across scientific disciplines.
The Society has also invited him to present the Award Lecture at the International Symposium “Science beyond Boundary: Invention, Discovery, Innovation and Society – Rasayan 22,” to be held at Visvesvaraya Technological University, Muddenahalli, Chikkaballapur, Karnataka from January 8-10, 2026. His lecture, in the form of a research note or article will be published in the upcoming issue of the society’s journal, Prayogik Rasayan.
Binoy Saikia’s research interests include sustainable energy and environment, with a focus on coal-based nanotechnology, carbon and nano-materials, atmospheric chemistry and energy storage devices.
