KOKRAJHAR, Jan 12: A pivotal joint district-level coordination meeting was convened at Bodofa Cultural Complex, Chandamari in Kokrajhar, bringing together the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and United Peoples’ Party Liberal (UPPL). The strategic gathering aimed to solidify the alliance and bolster both parties in anticipation of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Prominent leaders from both parties graced the occasion, including president of UPPL and chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro, state cabinet ministers Urkhao Gwra Brahma and Ashok Singhal, UPPL general secretaries Raju Kumar Narzary and Madhab Chandra Chetry (Org), and MLAs Lawrence Islary and Jiron Basumatary, among others.
CEM Pramod Boro emphasised that the meeting delved into deepening the relationship and integration between UPPL and BJP in the region. The alliance partners expressed a unanimous commitment to work jointly and dedicatedly. Boro highlighted that the joint ventures initiated by both parties aim to secure majority support in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the state and the Bodoland region.
“In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the meeting is a first-ever coordination meeting at the district level between UPPL and BJP, emphasising the need for healthy communication within the alliance parties,” said CEM Pramod Boro. He affirmed that UPPL stands united with BJP towards ensuring a historic third term for PM Narendra Modi, expressing confidence in a landslide victory.
Minister Ashok Singhal stated that the joint meeting formulated necessary strategies for the impending Lok Sabha elections in Assam and the Bodoland region. He underscored the positive understanding and cooperation between BJP and UPPL in the alliance government, dedicated to the upliftment and development of citizens. Minister Singhal announced that NDA partners will field candidates in Lok Sabha constituencies across the state in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
