KOKRAJHAR, APRIL 17: National president of BJP, Jagat Prakash Nadda will arrive in Kokrajhar on Thursday to address a public meeting at Green Field in favour of the NDA alliance (BJP, AGP and UPPL) candidate for Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, Joyanta Basumatary.
With the Lok Sabha elections approaching, various parties and organisations have intensified their campaigning in favour of their respective candidates to woo voters across the state, including the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
Nadda will be accompanied by chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma and chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region and UPPL president, Pramod Boro and several senior leaders representing the NDA alliance partners. Nadda will be arriving at Green Field, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar at around 11.25 am in a special helicopter on Thursday.
The public meeting will be organised at Green Field, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar where more than 60,000 party supporters and well wishers under the banner of NDA alliance will be participating.
Nadda and Sarma will witness the filing of nomination by NDA alliance candidate for Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, Joyanta Basumatary followed by a grand rally from Green Field to Government HS and MP School playground via JD Road in Kokrajhar town.
Later, Nadda and Sarma will also join the filing of nomination by NDA alliance candidate for Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency, Phani Bhushan Choudhury.
CEM of Bodoland Territorial Region, Pramod Boro and several leaders from NDA alliance partners on Wednesday assessed the preparations and arrangements at the Green Field.
“Nadda will arrive in Kokrajhar to address the public gathering, which is expected to witness more than 60,000 people from various areas under Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency. The public gathering will be a milestone for the NDA alliance partners in Kokrajhar as NDA’s candidate, Joyanta Basumatary will win the Lok Sabha elections with more than 3 lakh votes as peoples cutting across various communities are coming forward to extend support to him,” said Pramod Boro.
“The NDA alliance candidates across the state will win more than 12 seats in the state in the Lok Sabha elections. The UPPL party and NDA alliance governments are working dedicatedly towards the welfare of the common masses,” he further said.
Meanwhile, five candidates have filed their nominations for Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency till Wednesday.
Gorjon Mushahary of Indian National Congress (INC), accompanied by APCC president Bhupen Borah filed his nomination papers before the returning officer of Kokrajhar district commissioner office on Wednesday.
Lalit Pegu of Voters Party International (VPI) and three independent candidates Ranjoy Kumar Brahma, Pritiviraj Narayan Dev Mech and Jhon Das submitted their nomination papers before the returning officer at Kokrajhar district commissioner’s office.
The last date of filing nominations is April 19, while the scrutiny of the same will be done the next day.
The last day for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed on April 22.
Voting in Kokrajhar (ST) constituency will take place in the third phase on May 7 along with Guwahati, Barpeta, and Dhubri Lok Sabha constituencies.
