GUWAHATI, May 8: Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has claimed that the BJP government’s ten years of unprecedented development efforts has resulted in a great deal of excitement among senior citizens and first-time voters in the ensuing Lok Sabha election.
He said, “I have observed enough euphoria for the polls among new voters and senior citizens this time. This is a result of the BJP government’s extraordinary development programs during the past ten years.”
At a polling station in the Kamrup district, the chief minister cast his vote along with his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma and daughter Sukanya Sarma. It is the first time his daughter has exercised her right to franchise.
The state has seen a strong voters’ turnout in previous phases and Sarma is quite impressed with that.
“In the last two phases, the state’s vote percentage has exceeded 80 per cent,” he said.
CM Sarma expressed gratitude to the public for voting in huge numbers despite the state’s unfavorable weather.
He said that since the poll dates were released, there hasn’t been a single unpleasant incident during the three phases of the Assam election.
The chief minister mentioned, “The peaceful election in the state signified that the state has been on the path of development.”
He said, “The next four phases will see elections in important states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, etc. Every state has unique political dynamics that need to be considered.”
Beginning on May 9, the chief minister will campaign for the BJP in Odisha, West Bengal, and in other states.
