JORHAT, Sept 7: A Pit Viper has been rescued from Gohai Tekela in Jorhat on Saturday.
One Devasish Dutta, a student of Bahona College rescued the snake with much caution. Thereafter Dutta after bringing the snake to College, Zoology student Devasmita Baruah identified the snake as Salajar Pit Viper (Trimeresurus Salazar) initially. Later it was identified as rare pit Viper by professor.
Earlier, Pit Viper was reported to be found in Pakke Tiger Reserve in Arunachal Pradesh. Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had also informed that Pit Viper had been found in Kaziranga National Park.
