KOKRAJHAR, July 31: In a significant move towards enhancing digital education and academic infrastructure in Northeast India, Bodoland University on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with REC Foundation, New Delhi, for the establishment of an Advanced Multidisciplinary Computer Laboratory worth ₹6.22 crore.
The initiative is being implemented under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of REC Ltd, a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Power.
The MoA was signed by Dr Subung Basumatary, Registrar of Bodoland University, and Mr Pradeep Fellows on behalf of REC Foundation.
The signing ceremony was attended by Raju Narzary, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Technology; Ashok Kr Brahma, Research Scholar from the Department of Biotechnology; and Manish Tiwari, CSR representative from REC Foundation.
The upcoming laboratory will feature high-end computing systems, smart classroom infrastructure, and facilities to conduct national-level online examinations such as NET, GATE, UPSC, and SSC.
It will also offer training programmes to enhance employability in both government and private sectors, tools for digital content creation, server-based learning infrastructure, and inclusive support for differently-abled learners.
This collaboration aims to position Bodoland University as a regional centre for digital learning, research, and capacity-building, with a particular focus on empowering students from tribal and underrepresented communities in the Bodoland Territorial Region.
