Bonphular Kobi Jatindra Nath Duwara remembered

SIVASAGAR, July 8: Bonphular Kobi Jatindra Nath Duwara’s death anniversary was observed at Rangpur Sahitya Sabha Bhawan on Friday with the recitation of his poems, speeches on his poetic journey, and other programs. Hem Baruah, president of Rangpur Sahitya Sabha, presided over the function.

Prema Gogoi, Dipali Bhattacharjya Baruah, Manoj Kumar Borthakur, Mukul Nath, Kalpana Kotoky, Umesh Changkakoti, and Parinita Bhuyan spoke on the romantic pessimism of the Assamese poet, the first recipient of an Academy Award from the state. Prizes for the recitation competition of Duwara’s poems were distributed during the meeting.

The meeting also discussed tentative programs for the platinum jubilee celebration of the Rangpur Sahitya Sabha and the construction of the Sabha building in Borkataky Khetra, for which the president, Hem Baruah, has already donated Rs 2 lakhs.
