GOSSAIGAON, Sept 19: Srirampur police on Monday destroyed around 2,240 kgs of Burmese supari in Simultapu in presence of Nabanita Sharma, SDPO Gossaigaon, Amar Jyoti Bailung, O/C, Gossaigaon police station, food security officer, Chandra Mita Basumatary and other local residents of the area.
Sources from the police personnel disclosed that as per the order of SDJM Gossaigaon, around 2,240 kgs of Burmese supari, which was intercepted by Simultapu police in various raids carried out along the Assam-Bengal inter-state border, were destroyed on Monday.
It is estimated that the value of the seized Burmese supari would be around Rs 7 lakh.
