JORHAT, May 20: Dorothy G Momin, HOD & associate professor, English Department, DCB College released Cauldron of Hope, a novel on historical fiction by Abhinav Bhattacharyya in the premises of Assam Sahitya Sabha Jorhat Division office (Samajratna Dr Nabin Ch Bordoloi Smriti Sadan), recently.
Momin in her introductory comments touched on the key points that make the book worth reading.
“The Cauldron of Hope is a historical fiction on Alexander’s last dream. Generally passive voice for novels are rare and difficult to uphold, hence the book is unique and perfectly drafted for readers in fine old English in the classical way. Moreover, the Cauldron of Hope’s premise is based on the age-old concept of ‘Hope’ and the great monarch’s vision for continuation of governance over the lands he conquered, far and beyond after his days in the world is one,” Momin said.
“It’s a remorseless agony of hope which drives him at the end to declare the final words in his last breath; the same ‘hope’ which we still in the new millennia follow to shape our futures, our tomorrows,” Momin added.
She also touched upon the immaculate character development which brought to life the vivid and interesting characters.
President, Asam Sahitya Sabha, Jorhat Division, Dr Ratul Chandra Bora, “It is a matter of pride for the district and the State as a whole that a writer has debuted with a historical fiction which includes a dream sequence. This is a rarity. Literary fiction is the need of the hour for readers, young and old,” he said.
Hemanta Gohain, deputy librarian, Assam Agricultural University remarked, “It’s a welcoming trend that such a young author has come forward and delivered such a unique piece of writing. I adore the way Ms Momin addressed the key and salient features of the book.”
Prakash Thakur, regional joint general secretary, Bharat Vikas Parishad critically appreciated the book and the authors resolved to write a historical fiction.
