CEM Pramod Boro distributes cheques of Mainao Swrang Bithangkhi to SHGs

KOKRAJHAR, March 9: Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region on Saturday distributed financial assistance among members of self-help groups under the the flagship programme of Mainao Swrang Bithangkhi.

With an aim to empower women in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) districts, more than 1788 self help groups (SHG) received cheques worth Rs 25,000 as financial assistance from the BTR government under on the occasion.

The ceremonial distribution of financial assistance cheques of ₹25,000 (first instalment of ₹ 75000) each to 1788 out of the 6000 more women-led self help groups (SHGs) of BTR districts under the flagship Mainao Swrang Bithangkhi initiative took place at the Balajan Tinali Bazar complex in Kokrajhar on Saturday amidst the presence of huge participation of SHGs members and citizens cutting across the communities.

Remarkably, the government of Bodoland Territorial Region has initiated Mainao Swrang Bithangkhi initiative to empower the women fraternities to realising the dream of the Viksit BTR in the state of Assam.

Rajya Sabha MP, Rwngwra Narzary, Kokrajhar LAC, Lawrence Islary and several dignitaries were present during the function.

The governmentof BTR distributed nearly 3800 cheques amongst the SHGs members in October last year as first instalment and again initiated to distribute the Mainao Swrang Bithangkhi amongst the 6000 SHGs across the Bodoland region under the phase of first instalment.

CEM Pramod Boro ceremonially distributed the cheques amongst the members of the SHGs under the flagship programme of Mainao Swrang Bithangkhi initiative, government of BTR.

He informed that the BTR government has so far launched many welfare schemes and programmes to usher more progress in the region.

He said that the govt of BTR is committed to fostering financial empowerment among women, striving to make them integral partners in our collective mission to build a peaceful and smart Bodoland region.

He said that peoples in the BTR now have a chance to live in a healthy and peaceful atmosphere since signing of the BTR peace accord in 2020 and accordingly the BTR government has been trying to usher in massive development in the region.

He said that the BTR government is taking concrete steps to uplift and empower women in Bodoland region and by providing financial support and resources to women SHGs, the government is creating opportunities for economic independence and self-reliance among women.

He also said that the Lakhpati Baideo success stories emerging from every corner of BTR reinforce the government’s commitment to encourage women towards entrepreneurship and financial independence.

“It is a great opportunity to be present in the ceremonial distribution of cheques amongst the 1788 numbers of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in BTR under the Mainao Swrang Bithangkhi initiative. The distribution of cheques will inspire a good environment while empowering women-led self help groups. This initiative is a testament to the commitment of the BTR government to empower women and support their entrepreneurial endeavours,” Boro said.
