KOKRAJHAR, June 17: The District Agriculture Office, Kokrajhar, under the Department of Agriculture of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), on Wednesday organised a ceremonial distribution of certified High Yielding Variety (HYV) paddy seeds under the National Food Security Mission (NFSM) for the 2026–27 financial year.
The initiative has been undertaken to provide quality seeds to farmers with the objective of enhancing paddy production, increasing farm income and strengthening food security across the district.
Officials attending the programme highlighted the vital role of agriculture in the rural economy and stressed the need for adopting scientific and modern farming practices to improve productivity.
They noted that the use of certified HYV paddy seeds is expected to increase crop yields, improve resilience to adverse weather conditions and contribute to the overall development of the farming sector.
The distribution programme forms part of the government’s efforts to support farmers through improved agricultural inputs and promote sustainable agricultural growth in the region.
Officials also encouraged farmers to take advantage of various government-sponsored agricultural schemes and utilise modern cultivation techniques to improve productivity and profitability.
The BTC administration reiterated its commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector and building a self-reliant farming economy across the Bodoland region through continued support and capacity-building initiatives for farmers.
