Cheques under IMUWP scheme distributed among beneficiaries across Assam

SILCHAR, Sept 21: 28 affected families of Cachar district whose houses were completely destroyed in the recent floods received Rs 1 lakh from the CM’s Relief Fund and 480 widows have been given a one-time financial assistance of Rs 25 thousand. The one-time financial aid was handed over by dignitaries including Cachar deputy commissioner Rohan Kumar Jha at a function organised at Gandhi Bhavan in Silchar on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, deputy commissioner Rohan Kumar Jhan said that this one-time financial assistance is in addition to the allowances received by those in Cachar district under the Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme of the State Government. Besides, 28 families whose homesteads were destroyed in the recent floods in the district are being given Rs 1 lakh from the CM’s Relief Fund.

Deputy commissioner Rohan Kumar Jha advised the beneficiaries to utilise the grant money properly. He said that the families affected by the recent floods have already received 95 thousand 100 rupees and this grant of 1 lakh rupees is additional to this.

Zilla Parishad president Amitabh Rai, Silchar MP representative Pulak Das, Lakhipur MLA representative Dr. Chandan Dey, said that the people and widows of the district affected by the recent floods will be greatly benefited by this step taken by the State Government and they thanked chief minister Himanta Biswa Sharma. Rajeev Roy, development commissioner of Cachar gave vote of thanks on the occasion.

Our Demow correspondent adds: State Revenue minister Jogen Mohan ceremonially launched the one-time financial assistance of Rs 25,000 under the Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme at a programme held in Sivasagar Yuva Dol on Tuesday.

State Revenue minister Jogen Mohan was present in the programme as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, minister Jogen Mohan said that this one-time financial assistance, to some extent, will help the widow in the coming days.

In the programme, Aditya Bickram Yadav, deputy commissioner of Sivasagar district also spoke about the Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme.

Dhurba Jyoti Mout, president of Sivasagar Zilla Parishad, Mrinalini Konwar, chairman of Sivasagar Municipal Board, Dipawali Kurmi, assistant commissioner, Surabhi Rajkumari, social worker along with other dignitaries were present in the programme.

Our Haflong correspondent adds: Along with the rest of the district of Assam, District Rural Development Agency, Dima Hasao organised a district level event for ceremonial distribution of sanction letter to 52 beneficiaries of one-time financial assistance scheme for widow under Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme (IMUWPS). The event was held at Sikhsha Bhawan, Haflong.

The programme was attended by EM of NCHAC Golonjoy Thaosen as chief guest and deputy chairman Bimal Hojai as guest of honour, deputy commissioner Nazreen Ahmed ACS and other dignitaries, BDOs and Government officials.

The event was followed by a live telecast of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ceremonially launching the scheme and distributing the sanction letter to the beneficiaries at Tezpur.

After the end of live telecast programme, the sanction letter to beneficiaries of one-time financial assistance scheme for widow under Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme (IMUWPS) was distributed by EM of NCHAC Bimol Hojai in presence of deputy chairman of NCHAC Bimal Hojai, deputy commissioner Nazreen Ahmed, ACS and deputy secretary Meganjoy Thaosen in Dima Hasao.

During the programme, Nazreen Ahmed said that under this scheme, one-time financial assistance will be offered to the grieving families, where the eligible widows will be provided with a lump sum amount of Rs 25,000 as immediate family assistance. She also added that to get the benefit of the scheme, the applicants should be a permanent resident of Assam and between 18 to 45 years of age.

Bimol Hojai, EM of NCHAC spoke to the beneficiaries that the Government is launching this scheme to benefit and provide a better livelihood so that they can live a financially independent life.

Our Morigaon correspondent adds: Minister of Commerce & Industry and Cultural Affairs, Bimal Bora formally inaugurated the Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme (IMUWPS) at Pobitora hut on Tuesday.

The minister handed over the cheques of Rs 25 thousand to 466 beneficiaries under Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme (IMUWPS) in presence of MLA Ramakanta Dewri, deputy commissioner Devashish Sarma, CEO of MZP K.C.Pegu, chairman of MZP Isme Ara Begum and chairperson of MMB Jogesh Tamuly.

Besides, the minister also provided a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to one damaged household beneficiary, Ranjana Malo of Basanaghat, Morigaon.

Earlier, the minister delivered a speech on the life history of social worker Indira Miri at length in the programme.
