TEZPUR, April 29:  Under the auspices of the Indian Medical Association, Tezpur branch, the Shankara Cancer and Research Institute in collaboration with the Association of Physicians of India, Tezpur branch have organised a continuing medical education (CME) programme with special focus on the theme ‘Oncology in 2024: Where Have We Reached?’ in Tezpur.
The CME featured insightful talks on the latest advancements in medical oncology, radiation oncology, and surgical oncology.
During the programme distinguished speakers Venkata Pradeep and Babu Koyyala discussed recent breakthroughs in medical oncology. While Suhas V Navada shared insights into radiation oncology advancements, Rajiv Paul spoke on the advancements in surgical oncology.
The event was conducted by the president and secretaries of IMA Tezpur branch, Dipen Mahanta, Queen Gogoi, and Ranjan Mahanta respectively. Kartik Chandra Borkotoki represented API, Tezpur branch, adding to the diverse expertise present.
Venkata Pradeep Babu Koyyala highlighted the availability of cutting-edge treatments at the Shankara Cancer and Research Institute, including targeted therapies, immunotherapies and chemotherapy drugs with reduced side effects and infusion of reactions. He also underscored the institute’s provision of cervical cancer vaccines for prevention and breast cancer screening facilities, ensuring comprehensive cancer care for the community. The CME served as a platform for healthcare professionals to stay abreast of the latest advancements in oncology and exchange valuable insights, ultimately contributing to enhanced patient care and outcomes in the region.
