GUWAHATI, June 11: In a grand celebration of rural women’s leadership and their role in socio-economic transformation, the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Government successfully conducted the BTR-Level Community Cadres Conference at the Integrated Textile Park, Kharuajan, Mushalpur, Baksa on Wednesday. The event, organised under the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM), honoured the dedication and contribution of community cadres working at the grassroots level across BTR.
The conference aimed to showcase the power of grassroots leadership in driving rural development and building community institutions. It witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 2,500 community cadres, VCDC and TCLCC Chairpersons, Cluster Level Federation (CLF) leaders, and grassroots stakeholders from across the region.
Minister for Panchayat & Rural Development, Government of Assam, Ranjit Kumar Dass, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering rural women and strengthening rural institutions to drive inclusive growth.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTR, Pramod Boro, also attended and addressed the gathering. Applauding the unwavering dedication of the community cadres, he stated, “Our cadres are the foundation of rural progress. Their commitment is shaping a self-reliant, peaceful, and inclusive Bodoland.” He also acknowledged the role of the BTR Development Fellowship, co-administered by The/Nudge Institute (TRIF), in supporting effective governance and programme delivery.
Several key dignitaries were present at the event, including Cabinet Minister Urkhao Brahma, Executive Members Rakesh Brahma, Wilson Hansda, and Dr. Dharma Narayan Das, as well as MCLAs Madhab Chandra Chetry, Hemanta Rabha, and Reo Reoa Narzihary. Akshdeep, Principal Secretary of BTC, along with the Director, P&RD, BTC, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of ASRLM, and other district and block-level officials were also in attendance.
The event also served as a platform to highlight flagship schemes of the BTC Government aimed at uplifting rural women. These include the Lakhpati Abo, Mahila Farmer Producer Companies, Women-Friendly Farm Machinery, and the Bodoland Pig Mission, in alignment with ASRLM’s long-term vision for rural development.
A key moment of the programme was the ceremonial distribution of field kits to selected cadres, symbolising the administration’s support for their critical grassroots efforts. The government assured that all community cadres in BTR would receive the kits through their respective block offices in the coming days.
The event concluded with renewed energy and a collective commitment to building a prosperous, green, and inclusive Bodoland powered by strong women leaders and vibrant rural communities.
