SIVASAGAR, April 19: The Congress party and the Raijor Dal are at loggerheads at Sivasagar over seat sharing when the Panchayat Elections are round the corner. Former Youth Congress leader and the Congress Candidate from the constituency in the last general elections Subhramitra Gogoi through the social media platform WhatsApp lambasted the Raijor Dal chief and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi as the key trouble maker in opposition alliance to facilitate BJP’s smooth ride in the coming elections. He suggested it in reply to the Raijor Dal supremo’s alleged statements before the media that Subhramitra Gogoi stood on the way to a pre-poll alliance among the opposition parties as a BJP agent in the Sivasagar LAC .While stating that he being a sincere congress worker since his student days, Subhramitra Gogoi reprimanded the Raijor Dal chief for making baseless and irrational allegations and said that the Congress Party did not patronise one particular community and seeks to work for all communities while fielding candidates. He added that the Congress had nominated four persons from four different communities –Junu Gogoi( Ahom), Bhupen Bora( Koch), Naznin Ahmed( Muslim)and Bibhuti Chetia( Matok) from Morabajar, Jakaichuk, Rangpur and Desangmukh Panchayats respectively.

Meanwhile, Manjeer Gogoi, the district president of the Congress, in a release on Thursday, clarified that on seat sharing the Raijor Dal did not cooperate with the Congress till April 11 and only on April 13, the Raijor Dal representatives communicated with the Congress leadership on their desire for a seat sharing which was too late. But the district Congress leaders Manjeer Gogoi himself, Ajay Gogoi, Bharati Saikia and Jiten Goswami told the Raijor Dal that their request could have been entertained had it been communicated at least a week earlier. The Congress leaders clarified that it cannot surrender, as demanded, all the four ZP seats to the Raijor Dal candidates.
