KHERONI, Aug 11: The Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KA-DCC) on Monday held a one-day convention for all Block and Mandal presidents and office bearers at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, Diphu, to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence in preparation for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.
The event was attended by Manoj Chauhan, Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and Co-in-charge of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), as the chief guest.
Other attendees included APCC office bearers Bitupon Saikia, General Secretary and in-charge of KA-DCC; Ashok Teron, General Secretary; Pallav Chetia, Secretary; Purnima Ronghangpi, Secretary; and Supratim Kor, Secretary. Former MLA Jagat Sing Engti, former KAAC Deputy Chairman Mahesh Kumar Chauhan, and KA-DCC president Raton Engti were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Chauhan alleged corruption in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) under Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang and in the Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
He also referred to the Special Inclusive Revision (SIR) recently conducted in Bihar, linking it to the party’s organisational strategies.
The convention discussed strategies to mobilise party workers and strengthen the Congress organisation at the grassroots level in Karbi Anglong ahead of the 2026 polls.
