Cooperative society signs MoU for skill development

DIPHU, May 14: The first multi-state cooperative society for agriculture for the states of Manipur and Assam under the Union ministry of cooperation, ‘Bharathimanass Agriculture Cooperative Limited (Bharathimanassagricoop) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ICAR – ATARI (Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute) in Shillong.

The MoU was signed on Monday between AK Mohanty, director, ICAR – ATARI and Raghumani Khundrakpam, chairman, of Bharathimanassagricoop.

As per the MoU, ICAR – ATARI will provide skill-based training programme and technical guidance for enhancing agricultural production, establishing food processing units for fruits, spices, vegetables and tea produced by members and stakeholders of society, technology inputs and other materials for the welfare of farmer’s community and use of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) of the ICAR – ATARI.

The MoU signing was attended by the directors of the society from Manipur, P. Ranapratap and Y. Ramdiyu and Enali Hasnu and Miss Ringbli, two directors from Assam. This agreement will boost the agricultural activities for enhancing production and food processing sector by producing hygienic and nutritious products to the common men and also help in socio-economic up liftment of the farmer’s community, said Ramanando Khundrakpam, managing director of Bharathimanassagricoop.
