GUWAHATI, Aug 7: A team of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption on Sunday arrested Matia police station’s assistant sub inspector (ASI) Sabin Das Pal on graft charges.
ASI Das was caught red handed at the Matia police station premises while accepting a bribe of rupees twenty five thousand from the complainant.
According to the Directorate, the bribe money was recovered from ASI Das on the spot and he was arrested by the team.
“A complaint was received at the Directorate alleging that ASI das had demanded a bribe of Rs 35,000 for mitigating favourably the pending cases of the complainant lodged at matia police station,” the Directorate said.
The Directorate further said that based on the complaint, a special team of the directorate laid a trap on Sunday at matia police station and caught ASI Pal red handed after he accepted the bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant around 2:45 pm.
A case has been registered at the ACB police station vide Case No 25/2022 u/s 7(a) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (as amended in 2018).
