GUWAHATI, Dec 8: Assam Panchayat & Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass on Sunday chaired a high-level review meeting with the Cachar district administration and heads of various departments, setting a strict 60–75 day deadline to complete all ongoing rural development works.
Held at the new conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the meeting saw the participation of Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, Udharbond MLA Mihir Kanti Shome, Dholai MLA Nihar Ranjan Das, Cachar Zilla Parishad Chairman Kankan Narayan Sikidar, senior officials and representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions.
According to an official statement, Dass outlined a clear roadmap for accelerated development, stressing that progress would be monitored closely and that every department must adhere to the set timelines.
He highlighted that nearly 1.47 lakh beneficiaries in Cachar have already received houses under government schemes, with construction underway for many more.
About ₹298 crore has been earmarked for the process, he informed.
A major focus of the review was the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (Gramin), which the minister directed to be implemented in “mission mode”.
He called for robust field-level monitoring, close coordination among MLAs, district officials and PRIs, and strict adherence to construction timelines to ensure that eligible families receive their benefits without delay.
Dass also emphasised accountability and transparency.
All blocks have been asked to submit regular progress reports, while designated monitoring teams will conduct frequent field visits to verify implementation quality.
He directed that Gaon Sabhas be held across all Gram Panchayats to validate beneficiaries identified through the Anwesha App survey, stating that the process is vital for eliminating discrepancies and strengthening community participation.
The minister instructed the CEO, Zilla Parishad, and all Block Development Officers to ensure time-bound completion of works under close supervision.
District officials were asked to extend full administrative and logistical support, while PRI members were urged to actively participate in monitoring and coordination.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to responsive and result-oriented governance, Dass called upon all officials to work cohesively and with a mission-oriented approach.
The review meeting, he said, marks a renewed push toward measurable outcomes and citizen-focused rural development in Cachar.
