DIPHU, Jan 28: In a recent development, a delegation comprising Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Phengpiga Rengma, chairman of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Minority Board Prakash Sangma, president of Hills People Cultural Forum (HPCF) Laichen Engleng, and president of AJYCP Jitu Phukon visited the jungle area of Khanari in Diphu. This visit aimed to investigate an incident that occurred a few weeks ago, where four villagers were physically assaulted by unknown miscreants.
During their visit, MAC Rengma and HPCF president Engleng addressed the villagers, emphasising the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility. The delegation sought to prevent any misunderstandings arising from the incident and urged the community to remain calm. Other prominent figures present at the meeting included Naga Rengma Mouzadar, Nsoga Nandu Rengma, sarkari gaon bura Roshweng Rengma, president of Rengma Naga Cultural Society Khenga Rengma, and president of Rengma Naga Students Union Thangshi Jishing Rengma.
The delegation also met with the victims, Stephan Terang and Rangsina Teron of Wophong village, Koilamati, who had been physically assaulted. The representatives expressed their disapproval of the incident, stating that it was unwarranted. Plans for organising a meeting with the villagers of Khanari were discussed to foster mutual cooperation and trust among different tribes and communities. This initiative aims to address concerns and promote harmony in the affected region.
