MARGHERITA, April 3: Numal Momin, Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, paid a visit to the Margherita Buddha Vihar in Tinsukia district on Thursday, during afternoon hours.
The visit highlighted a blend of cultural reverence and community engagement, leaving a positive impression on both the Deputy Speaker and the Buddhist community people residing under Margherita Co-District region.
The Deputy Speaker was warmly welcomed with traditional honours, including the presentation of a traditional Assamese phoolam gamosha, Tai Phakey gamosha and a special memento from the Margherita Buddha Vihar.
Momin further participated in a candle-lighting and incense-offering ceremony, offering prayers before the statue of Lord Buddha.
The head monk of Margherita Buddha Vihar, Gyanowada Bhikkhu, expressed his hopes for the future, encouraging Numal Momin to support initiatives that could transform the Margherita Buddha Vihar into a thriving tourism hub as the Deputy Speaker, visibly impressed by the tranquil environment and excellent management of the site, praised the efforts of those maintaining the Vihar.
This visit not only showcased the rich cultural heritage of the region but also hinted at potential growth for Margherita Buddha Vihar as a destination of peace and spirituality.
