HAMREN, Dec 29: Nehru Yuva Kendra, Diphu, Karbi Anglong, organised a day long ‘District Level Yuva Utsav-2024’ under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India in collaboration with the Social Development Organisation and Adarsh Senior Secondary School at Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Kheroni Charali, West Karbi Anglong on Sunday.
The programme began with the lighting of lamps and gardening before the image of youth icon Swami Vivekananda by chief guest Member of Autonomous Council, Pawan Kumar; Pranabananda Dowerah, asst commissioner, DC Office Hamren; Sukhdeo Singh, principal, Adarsh Sr. Secondary School and others.

Jeetendra Harijan, President of Social Development Organisation introduced and felicitated all the guest and judges of the events. Saikat Mondal, district youth officer of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Diphu stated the aims and objectives of the programme.
The event also included a myriad of events and competitions.
Muni Bordoloi and group clinched the first prize in cultural folk competition, whereas in Science Mela (Group) the first prize was bagged by Sonu Chauhan and his group for their Model on Renewable Energy. Roshmi Biswas claimed the first prize in the Science Mela (Individual) contest.
In the Mobile Photography first prize was awarded to Ajay Verma, Painting first prize went to Sarip Sarongsa. Sunita Kumari Singh won the first prize in poetry writing competition and the Declamation Contest was won by Deepa Kumari. All the winners were awarded with certificate.
The event was graced by Khorsing Terang, Assam Gaurav Awardee; Raj Kumar Chauhan, advisor, Karbi Anglong Hindi Bhashi Sanstha; Labin Basumatary, dance choreographer; Bolram Thapa, social activist; and Biswabandhu Thapa, vice principal of Hamren Girls HS School.
Judges for the competitions were Madhumita Mazumdar, HoD of Philosophy; Dr Rajesh Kr. Chauhan, HOD of Hindi; Bharat Sahu, assistant teacher at PG Hari Teron High School; Dr Prem Singh Chauhan, BDS; Sabita Kumari Harizan; Dharam Sing Phangcho and Dr Shio Jee Chauhan, assistant professor, Udali College.
The Yuva Utsav-2024 celebrated the talent and creativity of youth aiming to foster the cultural exchange and scientific innovation among participants from various communities.
