Dr Maphie Rojje Boro receives Yuva Lekhak Sanman

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 22: Young writer Maphie Rojje Boro of Kokrajhar has been selected for the Yuva Lekhak Sanman announced by the Assam government’s Education Department, bringing a wave of joy among the literary community in the district.

According to official information, a total of 818 young writers from across Assam have been honoured with the award this year.

From Kokrajhar district, Dr Boro received the recognition for her poetry collection Ang Arau O Ti Rum (Me and the OT Room). She is currently serving as an employee in the Irrigation Department, Kokrajhar.

Speaking to the media, Dr Boro expressed happiness at receiving the honour and thanked the Assam government and the Education Minister.

She said her inspiration came from the Bodo Women Writers’ Association, as well as from her parents and husband.

Despite balancing official responsibilities and household duties, she said she continues to write in her free time and added that the award would serve as a strong motivation for young writers.

Dr Boro informed that two poetry collections have been published so far, with Ang Arau O Ti Rum being her second book.

She also noted that several other writers from Kokrajhar district were selected for the same honour, bringing the total number of awardees from the district to 16.

Other recipients from Kokrajhar include Alpana Mosahary, Andolan Brahma, Bibeka Narzary, Buddhadeb Narzary, Debajyoti Basumatary, Dhananjay Narzary, Dr Gobinda Baishya, Guneswar Awary, Geneva Musahary, Joysagar Murmu, Latach P. Narzary, Nijara Musahary, Ratul Deka, Shiva Ram Narzary and Ukrangoura Narzary.

Meanwhile, local residents felicitated Dr Boro with an Aronai, and celebratory scenes were witnessed at her residence following the announcement.
