Dr Pranjal Mahanta selected for research opportunity at Emory University School of Medicine

GUWAHATI, July 3: Dr Pranjal Mahanta, assistant professor and head of the department of Physics at Behali Degree College in Borgang, Sonitpur, has been honoured with the esteemed SERB International Research Experience (SIRE) fellowship for the year 2023-24. The fellowship, supported by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), a body under the department of Science and Technology, government of India, will allow Dr Mahanta to conduct research at the department of Biochemistry, Emory University School of Medicine in the United States, under the mentorship of Dr Graeme L Conn. The fellowship, spanning a duration of 6 months, serves as a platform to foster innovation and collaboration between Indian researchers and leading international institutions.

The selection process for the SERB SIRE fellowship is highly competitive, and the recipients are granted the opportunity to work on research projects at renowned global institutions. This fellowship provides access to state-of-the-art facilities, advanced research environments, and mentorship from esteemed experts in their respective fields. Dr Mahanta, hailing from Kathamiya village in the Bhakatiduar area of Majuli, is the eldest son of late Mohan Chandra Mahanta and Pratibha Mahanta.
