MARGHERITA, Aug 5: The Margherita police, under the leadership of officer-in-charge Pratap Gogoi, successfully apprehended a notorious drug peddler on Saturday morning. The operation took place near Changlang Tiniali Road, in the vicinity of PB Maruti Repairing Centre, located in the 124 number Margherita Constituency of Tinsukia district.
The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Buddha Dey, hailing from Changlang Tiniali, Margherita. During the operation, the police discovered 26 grams of suspected heroin in his possession.
Meanwhile, another individual named Bobby Mandal, who is the owner of PB Maruti Repairing Centre in Margherita, was also allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade. However, he managed to evade capture during the police operation. It is believed that Mandal has been operating the illicit drug trade from the garage for an extended period.
The successful apprehension of the drug peddler is a significant development in the ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace in the region.
