DIPHU, Sept 13: A landlord here, in cooperation with a social organisation, demolished an alleged madrasa on his land and evicted the encroachers on Saturday.
The landlord, Rajendra Terang, said the occupiers had stayed on the 1 bigha plot at Longki Inghi village, Lower Dilaji, Diphu, for more than 30 years under a lease agreement.

He said legal action was taken, which he won, as he no longer wished to lease the land.
“I asked the lessee to vacate the land for the last 13 years but they refused to leave,” Terang said.
He added that he had also returned the security deposit and that the occupiers eventually agreed to return the land.
On September 13, the permanent structures said to be a madrasa were demolished using an excavator under the supervision of the social organisation Longri Cheraikom Amei after the occupiers were asked to remove their belongings.
Terang said he committed a mistake by leasing his land to non-indigenous people and advised others not to do the same.
He acknowledged the role of Longri Cheraikom Amei in recovering the land and expressed gratitude to its president Padma Teron and secretary Joy Sing Kro.
