BISWANATH CHARIALI, Aug 22: As part of the 100-day awareness campaign on Mission Shakti, Sankalp: HEW, the Office of the District Social Welfare Officer, Biswanath, organised an enrollment camp for Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) account opening for girl children in collaboration with Chariali Mukhya Dag Ghar (Department of Post) at Biswanath ICDS Project on Thursday, stated a press release. The main aim of the camp was to orient parents about the importance of higher education and to secure the future of young girls. The SSY scheme offers an interest rate of 8.2 percent and provides partial withdrawal facilities upon passing class 10 and for marriage. The SSY account can be opened for girl children up to 10 years of age. The Department of Post also explained the Mahila Samman Savings Scheme to the women present at the camp. The enrollment camp was attended by supervisors, Anganwadi workers, post office staff, and DSWO office staff.
