According to available information, more than 10 business establishments were fully gutted in the fire. Tapas Saha’s paddy breaking mill, Tuntun Saha’s serox and sports shop, Debashish Saha’s pharmacy, Sandhya Rani Bastralaya, Biplab Karmakar’s jewelry store, Aseem Saha’s firecracker store, Subrata Saha’s library, Bijay Das’s shoe store and Sanjay Das’s stationery shop were among the establishments that were reduced to ashes in the fire.

People from the neighboring areas after noticing the flames informed the fire brigade office and police station. The fire brigade personnel soon reached the spot and tried to douse the flames, but failed to prevent the spread of the raging fire due to lack of sufficient water in its vehicle. However, four fire tenders from Kokrajhar, Fakiragram and Sapatgram in Dhubri district reached after hours and finally managed to bring the flames under control. The fire personnel were able to douse the fire at 10 am on Wednesday.

At one point when the situation got out of control the sub-divisional administration erected barricades in the larger area and stopped the movement of public including vehicles.

Jiran Basumatary, MLA Gossaigaon reached the spot on Tuesday night and took stock of the situation. He asserted that BTR CEM Promod Boro was made aware of the situation and he assured government compensation for the loss.
