Kaliabor, Jan 11: The Kaliabor sub-division administration in Assam’s Nagaon district announced on Thursday the enforcement of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) prior to Bhogali Bihu.
In light of Magh Bihu, fishing activities in the beels across Kaziranga National Park and other nearby water bodies have been banned. Gathering of five or more people around these water bodies is also prohibited under Section 144.
This decision aims to conserve natural resources and biodiversity in Kaziranga National Park. The provisions of Section 144 will be applied across all areas under the Burhapahar forest range, as well as Potali Beel, Deusur, Ghorakati, Tunikati, and Deupani.
Despite affecting Uruka traditions, authorities state that this measure is crucial for conservation. Fishing activities in the specified areas are not permitted, as declared by the Kaliabor sub-divisional magistrate’s office.
