SIVASAGAR, March 16: Former revolutionary Communist Party leader, a close aid of Bishnu Prasad Rabha and a revered social worker Sakhi Kachari breathed his last in his residence in Jamira village, Bamrajabari on Wednesday night at the age of 107.
According to family members, he worked with Bishnu Pd Rabha when he was in hiding in Panidihing Maharani Reserve .Kachari too went into hiding to evade arrest and police torture during the campaign against the communists in the fifties.
He was later arrested by police and was jailed for four years. Kachari spent the later life in working for the people of the region. Kachari is survived by two sons and six daughters besides a host of grandchildren.
Kachari’s death is mourned by Katiori HS School, Bamrajabari College, Tengapani Tribal School, Nitai_Panidihing Sahitya Sabha ,Sivasagar district RCPI, CPI,Sivasagar District Journalists Association.
