DIPHU, March 19: The BJP, Karbi Anglong District Committee, East, (EKADC) refuted the allegations brought by one Mahajan Kro that the land compensation for the construction of 4 lane on NH 36 has been fraudulently acquired by certain quarters.

The president of BJP, EKADC, Rolland Killing in a press conference at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, here said, “The allegations that someone has acquired patta on government department’s land and took the compensation is baseless. All land belongs to the department, it (compensation) will go into their account. If there is anything like that there will be an enquiry and then it (compensation) will go into the department’s account.”
He further said that another allegation stating that BJP workers and leaders gave instructions to attack, abduct someone from their home is false. “We don’t know anything about that. It was never done. Neither was it done during my predecessors (district president of the party)- Dhansing Teron or Ratan Teron or Arun Terang,” he said.
He made it clear that no district president of BJP has ever done such a thing.
Killing said if any genuine patta holder has been denied compensation then they can come to the office of the BJP which is open 24×7. “The matter will be taken up with the Competent Authority of Land Acquisition (CALA),” he said.
It may be mentioned that Mahajon Kro during a press conference in Guwahati had alleged that a person has had land patta inside Silbheta Reserve since 1975. “As per Assam Gazette it was declared as District Council Reserve Forest in 1971. But he said the patta was obtained in 1975, the mistake committed by someone in 1975 and for that we cannot be held accountable now,” he said.
He further said, “Allegations are made that (MLA) Darsing Ronghang and (executive member of KAAC) Amar Tisso obtained that land and took the compensation. If there is any compensation (on government land) then it will go into the concerned department’s account.”
Chairman, PWD Development Board, Longsing Tokbi pointed out that in Section 2 (along NH 36) funds allotted Rs 47.28 crore and Rs 46.72 crore has been paid up. The balance is Rs 56 lakh. Likewise, in Section C the total money that comes in is Rs 79.82 crore and Rs 79.6 crore has been paid. In Section 4, Rs 115.12 crore has come in and of these Rs 114.92 crore has been paid. The balance is Rs 20 lakh.
Another tranche of compensation fund came just a few days ago for Section C. It was Rs 165 crore of which 147.65 crore has been paid, the balance is Rs 17.51 lakh. In Section 7, the compensation amount of Rs 40.89 crore came in and of this Rs 39.2 crore has been paid, the balance amount is Rs 1.87 lakh.
Tokbi said some government officials are involved in leaking documents to that party who want to file a case and action will be taken against them soon.
Tokbi said that if no evidence is given by those who brought the allegations and defamation case will be filed against them. He also said that Mahajan Kro and Mohan Rongpi are the same.
In a counter press conference held in his residence on Sunday evening, Mohan Rongpi said, “Many have sought my help in Section 3 and 4 (NH 36). They said they have not got any compensation. I asked them if they had made any effort to obtain it? They said they did. Then I said that legal help may be needed. I have seen their press meet. They offered all help if there is any genuine land owner that has been left out and I thank them for that. Since they offered to help, I will send those who came to me for help.”
